Ultimate 2C

if you need a controller, an 8bitdo ultimate 2c wireless can often be found for ~$20 and does the same thing for casual use

I use the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C, it's cheap and has hall effect joysticks, has both 2.4ghz and bluetooth 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller | 8BitDo

I use a 8bitdo Ultimate 2C and that has just been plug and play for me. It did stop working when I tried to install Xbox controller drivers for some reason, but worked fine again after I removed them.

the 8bitdo ultimate 2c cost me $30. The build quality is great, it has hall effect sticks, 4 bumper buttons 2 back buttons and it pairs with PC and Switch 2... and again it was $30 This adds trackpads for an additional $70 but it also put both the sticks and pads in odd positions. That is not ideal

Bluetooth is what you want. I got an Ultimate 2C with the 2.4 dongle and it's not compatible(unless 8bitdo have changed it). I love 8bitdo but their model lineup/compatibility is confusing

I've never had any real trouble with wired Xbox controllers and the wireless 8bitdo Ultimate 2C is currently working fine for me (you do need Windows to update the firmware on the 8bitdo stuff, however).

8bitdo has pretty affordable controllers. the ultimate 2c bluetooth controllers work pretty well, aren't that expensive, and feel comfortable (though they might be too big for kids' hands? not sure). they also have more expensive and full featured controllers like the pro3, but if you're getting one

An additional puck would be a godsend. I'm waiting for my Steam Controller to arrive, but I'm doing the whole "carry the dongle around" dance with my 8bitdo Ultimate 2C controller because the dongle 2.4GhZ connection is just too good and Bluetooth doesn't come close to it.
