I can answer that. My previous laptop was an Acer Swift 3, and the fingerprint reader didn't have a Linux driver at all. It drove me nuts, and I did start to write a driver for it, but life stuff prevented me from doing that (and the fact that the manufacturer sucks ass in the documentation departme
