Hobby Ideas for Chronic Migraine

Audiobooks and podcasts - and depending on your symptoms it might be worth it to get an ereader. Some of them are front lit. That is, back lighting is lights facing you, front lighting is lights inside the device facing AWAY from you. So I have a kindle oasis I have had nearly 10 years now? Front li

Can Books Bought On Amazon Be transferred to Kobo with Ease?

I can still save the eBooks i bought on amazon via my Oasis / USB/ Calibre, so far the Files are stored as KFX on the Oasis and not KFX-Zip, so Conversion to ePub/PDF is still possible. Not possible on newer devices i fear.

Convince me - Go7

I read a LOT, and I recently bought a Go7 b/w to replace my aging Nova Air. Before the Nova Air, my readers were usually Kindle models, including my favorite, the Oasis. I did a lot of product comparisons before settling on the Go7. I like it because the form factor is very close to my old Oasis. Bu

Shopping for an e-reader with: physical buttons, Kindle access, and a color screen.

I did this research for myself (kindle oasis still functioning so havent bought yet) and I think Boox is the best option. There are some Chinese brands that also use an open android system, which is what you need for the kindle app, but if you buy Boox from a regular retailer you get their return po

Oasis 9th Gen, Firmware 5.16.2.1.1 - cannot convert?

I had the same issue. With tons of tinkering, and going by the kindle modding wiki’s guide with a bit of troubleshooting from Claude, I was able to downgrade my oasis 9th gen software to 5.14. In theory, I should be able to pull books off of it with the downgrade firmware, but I need to “lock in” th

[Update] Simple UI v1.4.5: Tag browsing, Grid Folders, New Gestures and UI Modules

I had the same probrem where the correct reading module wouldn't show up after the update from 1.4.0 to 1.4.5 on my Kindle Oasis 3 (I also have multiple plugins). Unfortunately, I had already deleted the old folder of Simple UI so, to try the proposed solution, I had to download 1.4.0 from github, u

What kind of features should I look out for?

I have two readers - a Kindle Oasis from 2019 and a Pocketbook Era I just got recently. I like the Pocketbook more than the Kindle but only because I've become familiar with non-Amazon sources for books. As far as the two devices go the Pocketbook is more finicky, has quirks the Kindle does not have

For people with e-readers, how long have you had one and how consistently do you use it?

I was so against getting one until I had newborns and needed something one handed to keep me awake with light. Now I can’t go back. I have used it daily for 10 years now. I read upwards of 100 books a year. I still will read an occasional book if it isn’t on KU and cheaper to just purchase. I prefer

pros & cons of x4?

Pros: lightweight, portable, affordable, easy to setup and customize. You can carry it in your pocket at all times. You can add whichever books you want. Numerous firmware variants available. Cons: no backlight (but that can easily be fixed with a small reading light). I have a Kindle Oasis, but I h
