Flashing of firmwares DISABLED

I literally found out about this thing while shopping for a kobo. Since Amazon killed the only model they had with buttons, I was looking to see what would be a good replacement for my oasis. (Don’t misunderstand. I fucking LOVE my oasis. But no USB-C is more annoying than you think…) Found this. Sa

Why get Kindle when Kobo exists

I had a Kobo Libra H2O before and while the screen is pretty much the same than the Oasis, it's made entirely out of plastic and just felt cheaper. It also had no flush screen. As much as I hate Amazon, the oasis hardware was just amazing. It feels so much more premium to me, also the available cove

Ireader Ocean 5 C - impressed!

To illustrate the greyness of this ireader Ocean 5 C here is a comparison: ( from left to right. All with built-in light OFF) Top : Kobo Libra (B/W version) , Likebook Muses (7.8" sunken screen - one of my all time favourite reader. Clean white background with text displaying closest to the surface

Would you buy Kindle Oasis (10th gen) in 2026?

When it comes to sideloading/downloading, I heard it is no longer possible via USB cable, is it true? Sideloading via USB cable (transferring books to the Kindle, provided they’re in the right format, i.e. not epub, although Calibre can also convert epub while transferring) should absolutely still b

What's the best simple book focused e-reader (not Kindle)

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie?

Also have KU and read 50-60 books a year. I splashed out on a Kindle Oasis (sad they don't make it anymore) because it had warm light and physical buttons. £220 or something. Crazy expense for a device that does one thing. But man, I read almost every day and it's been 6 years since I got it.

For people with e-readers, how long have you had one and how consistently do you use it?

I was so against getting one until I had newborns and needed something one handed to keep me awake with light. Now I can’t go back. I have used it daily for 10 years now. I read upwards of 100 books a year. I still will read an occasional book if it isn’t on KU and cheaper to just purchase. I prefer

Best kindle to jailbreak?

go for second handed kindles honestly. the oasis has amazing build quality but the battery is kind of slacking, wouldn’t matter if you only read at night tho. cheap too since amazon stopped supporting them with software updates

pros & cons of x4?

Pros: lightweight, portable, affordable, easy to setup and customize. You can carry it in your pocket at all times. You can add whichever books you want. Numerous firmware variants available. Cons: no backlight (but that can easily be fixed with a small reading light). I have a Kindle Oasis, but I h
