"Living room amp" upgrade for better tone

I have a 30 watt tube amp (the Orange OR30) when I want big sound, but for quieter home practice with plenty of bite and "soundstage", I actually don't use an amp at all. Instead I use the new Easy Listening pedal which I plug into my home stereo speakers (a pair of Audioengine A5+). They sound incr

Anyone ever tried these?

Thanks for the reply. Tubes sound like my kind of audio rabbit hole. All in all it seems a relatively cheap way to get a good change to your sound. I am the type of person who uses a different type of coffee bean every week! So tube rolling sounds like it's for me! Three of my tube pairs were about

Please recommend me monitors or active speakers

Why not keep your 305s for your computer, and get a receiver and good passive speakers to hook up to your TV, and you can also use for music? Audioengine makes great powered speakers. I have the A5+ and I love them. They have the HD6 as well. Add in their S8 subwoofer and you're golden (btw, since y

Bedroom Players - Use Studio Monitors!

I have been doing this for a while. I already owned Audioengine A5+ speakers, I plugged them into the output from my Easy Listening pedal. It sounds great.

The line between desktop and studio speakers

"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." So you can, say, get AudioEngine A

Audioengine HD6 alternative

I just sold my HD6s two nights ago actually. I replaced them with the ELAC Debut 63s and a WiiM Ultra Amp for an office setup. I have only listened to them for about 20 minutes so far, but I was happy. I started out with Audioengine speakers, the A5+, the HD3s, then HD6s, and loved them all but I do

I was disappointed with the Acoustic Energy AE1 active and I have more respect for the Audioengine A5+.

I've had Audioengine A5+, HD3s, and HD6s. I enjoyed them all, but I just swapped out the HD6s for ELAC B63s + WiiM Ultra Amp, and there is no comparison. I had got the HD6s for $500 on sale, and they're worth that, but not their normal price of $700 when you can get a much better setup for another $

[Help Needed] Smart Speaker Setup with Home Assistant (₹20K–₹30K Budget)

WiiM’s products are likely the way to go. And note, as you probably have seen, that they don’t otherwise have microphones for voice control — besides in their additional/optional remote controller. Also we would usually recommend at least WiiM Pro Plus, because it has better DAC than Mini or Pro. Bu

Moving from laptop/windows/drivers to a music streamer.

Nearly went down the passive speakers route just before buying these Audioengine A5+ and Audioengine S8. Have music from Deezer on my iPad playing through my GC7 dac amp now to the speakers and it sounds great. It's just the laptop. I tried Deezer on it , it often hasn't been loading, but it just di

How much does subwoofer make up for average speakers

Audioengine A5+ speakers go down to 50hz by themselves, I have noticed they sound good the few times I had my sub woofer unconnected to them. Don't know what your level of cheap is but you might get the pair for somewhere in £350 range.
