How do you get this round and expensive sense of high-mids?
Get one of those mono auratone/avantone monitors. get your mix sounding rich & full on one of those & your mids will shine when you switch to your regular mons

I’ve mixed one of my tracks from my ep in mono then switched over to stereo and wow!
You're not wrong, although people who use the mono trick with a single Auratone or Avantone are well aware of this and they compensate for it. But it's kind of the opposite of your point. Someone who uses a frequency limited speaker like this is doing it precisely so they don't overly rely on sounds

Hi I'm Logan, owner of Panama Sound a small home-based project studio. AMA!
Well, it's funny but I don't have any acoustic treatment here. Some people think that's crazy, but this also has to serve as a livable home. I have Kali Audio LP-6 monitors and I use Sennheiser HD600 for headphones.... but the secret weapon is the Avantone Mixcube (it reveals all the places in the m

I bought a pair of Avantone Mixcubes but I believe the real magic is in using one. On that note -- for ~$20 you can get a Stereo-to-Mono summing box on Amazon which folds to mono before it goes to your Auratone. If you want to spend $20 for the convenience of not hitting the mono button in your DAW.

What’s one small change that instantly made your beats sound more “professional”?
This, and just generally focusing on mids whilst mixing. Avantone Mixcubes really help me with that.

How do engineers get mixes that translate between different systems?
Mixing in headphones or normal monitors never gave me mixes that translated, then I discovered Auratones/Avantones, the little mid-weighted cube speakers you see in photos of studios. Now my mixes translate to everything from monitors to cellphones to home stereos to car stereos. Mixing with proper

Anyone Using Auratones?
No auratone, but am using avantones--they are extremely helpful to clear up the midrange, as too much congestion sounds awful on them in a way that might only sound mediocre on full-range, ported speakers. My understanding is the Avantones are a bit more hyped than the Auratones, but this works real

What’s the deal with genelec speakers?
would it worth to get 8k speakers? Not without fixing the acoustics of the room. If you get these and your room is a concrete cube you've wasted your money. If it sounds so good on that speaker, who’s gonna able to listen to it? A good monitor is a flat mirrror. If you look at yourself in the mirror

sometimes i make a beat and the bass is too loud in my headphones but too basically inaudible through speakers
You are confused, let me help. Shitty mix: Ultra Mega Bullshit in bad headphones/car Good mix: translates very well across multiple systems (even works well in bad headphones/car). This is why professional studios have monitors like NS-10s or Avantone Mixcubes. They mimic how songs would sound on su
