Anyone use an E-Ink device for maps on hiking / cycling trips?

I tried bigme hibreak color just recently and was disappointed. I was fed up with glare on the iphone screen and battery issues. Like others have said, the dream of it lasting weeks is only with use as a very static e-reader. I even wrote a python script that would scrub tiles from open streetmap re

e-ink devices: one causes eye pain, another doesn’t — anyone with similar experienc

There are several elements to consider for screen related eye strain even with eink. It could be PWM, high blue light content, and dithering. For me, I could not tolerate the BigMe HiBreak pro likely due to the high blue light content and dithering method used, yet I could tolerate a Hisense A9 so m

HiBreak Pro Color vs. Boox Palma 2 Pro: Does it actually work as a phone replacement?

I've been DD the bigme hibreak pro color for about 5 months. You can still mindlessly scroll, trust me. But, it's slightly less engaging, and more annoying and slower than a normal phone. Anything you want to do takes a little longer. You have to baby it. Based on other reports, It could break at an

Bigme hibreak pro causes dizziness!

It usually is. But this bigme hi break just looks awful to my eyes. I have a kindle paper white with a front light panel, and the text looks clean and sharp and calming. The hibreak just messes with my eyes within the first minute of looking at it, worse than an OLED phone.

Beetwen hibreak pro, palma 2 pro and viwoods reader c what's the better option to our eyes

Isn't Bigme a real horrible software? I've had Bigme HiBreak Color and the software is quite crappy. I still have Boox Palma 2 Pro, but if I'm honest, I don't like the screen so much - it's noticably darker than my Hisense A7 CC's screen and therefore I still prefer my good old Hisense over all newe

Palma Pro 2 might be my Favorite Device

I have HiBreak Pro color. and I don't like it too much. Now I'm thinking about Palma 2 or to wait Palma 3 for several months. I have also Boox Tab X C and it seems that Onyx makes a magic with their BSR (boox super refresh) technology and gets maximum from kaleido technology. At the sqme time it see

e-ink devices: one causes eye pain, another doesn’t — anyone with similar experienc

The problem is that there aren't really tests that show this. I don't mean to be rude to doctors, but if you bring this up with them they will likely not know what you are talking about and tell you that you just need to blink more. This topic has unfortunately not been studied enough. It is a somet

Big resume of several tests I did

Any screen with high brightness effects me. Adding a privacy screen protector does help reduce blue light + brightness (google or chat gpt it). I know about that bigme phone. I wouldn't get the hibreak pro because their screens break easily (do the research, you'll see). I wanted that phone to be th

1 month with TCL NXTPAPER 60 ULTRA, my experience

I ordered and tested it, and unfortunately, after just five minutes, I started getting a headache. I’ll have to stick with my Bigme HiBreak Pro Color for now. I hope major companies like Samsung and Apple will also make E Ink smartphones, as they at least have decent software. The software from Bigm
