Just a quick question what's the best laptop to write stories on? What does everyone use?

Power-wise, anything works. Even a chromebook. The two main things to consider for writing are whether the screen is easy on your eyes and if the keyboard is good. My day job is programming, so I use a Dell Precision 5680 that I got for personal programming projects. It's entirely overkill for writi

Pro Max 14/16 Premium is successor of Dell XPS Now coming back to the performance of Pro Max. I love both of them. They a

Can someone recommend a manufacturer that makes computers with Linux Mint?

hmm as I said, I had several Dell, all working well. Currently on a Precision 5680 model. Previously I had XPS and Inspiron... Everything always worked well out of the box. I had some old Thinkpad too (don't remember the model as it was years ago): no problem with that too. The only one that I had s

Dell precision 5680

i looked into this for someone else last week. the precision 5680 with rtx 4090 runs at about 80w tgp plus dynamic boost up to around 95w. not a full power desktop 4090 obviously but pretty solid for a workstation laptop. dell keeps it a bit lower than gaming laptops for thermals. you can check nvid

Need help choosing MacBook / Windows for Live Production! (really confused)

My partner recently got a Dell 16" Precision 5680 and it's a seriously impressive machine. Build quality is at least as good as a modern MacBook Pro and performance is very impressive. She does 3d modeling and animation. I'm far from an expert on laptops so I don't really have specific recommendatio

Laptop Recommendation

Software development includes game development in unity (hobby), as well as front and backend development (work). Hobby-scale unity should be fine on anything modern as long as it's got enough RAM and a decent GPU. For FE/BE development, is that mostly microservices/other small stuff or are you deal

Business Laptop Recommendations?

I've been running a Dell Precision 5680 workstation for the past couple years. 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, zero issues. Since the Pro Max is the successor to the Precision series, I'd imagine they will be awesome as well, but who knows.

Suggestions for a computer for general/office type use

Not sure where your information comes from, but if you don't go for bottom-of-the-barrel consumer models, both Dell and HP make quality laptops. You'll spend a couple grand on a good one though, no matter who makes it. I still have my Dell Precision 5680 Workstation laptop from a couple years ago wi

Dell Pro Max 16 First Impressions

Apple killed the 15" screen, but for me, 16" is a nice happy medium between 15.6" and 17" especially with the trend to small bezels - I really like my Precision 5680, I just want something with a lot more VRAM for local LLM use. The 15" widescreen models have pretty consistently had a numberpad at t

NEED A LAPTOP FOR COLLEGE (MECHANICAL ENGINIEERING)

That sounds like an awesome (and intense) journey ahead — CAD, cars, maybe jets? Basically, you're training to become Tony Stark! For a $2500 USD (or around ₹2L INR-ish) budget, and your kind of workload (CAD-heavy, college use, long-term durability), I'd look at: 🔧 Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 / Gen 5
