Are there any really good Laptops for Linux (Debian)
XPS-13 used to be great, until Dell replaced the line with the overall worse XPS13-Plus design (it's actually Minus). Framework 13 is great. Finding something that can compete with M-chip Macs on battery life is going to be challenging.

Thinkpad vs Microsoft surface vs Dell XPS?
MS Surface devices - both surface pro and surface book - mostly use ARM CPUs (Qualcomm snapdragon) these days. These are not 100% x86 compatible and you need to carefully check your application environment for mostly legacy stuff that will not run at all or not well (through "Prism" emulation, slow)

I have been a MacOS user since Yosemite and I love how consistently petty Apple has been in using the old DOS blue screen of death screen in a CRT monitor as the default icon for any windows computers. It's even beautifully drawn in intricate detail!
Yeah it’s dumb as hell, especially after the 2010s when Apple got repeatedly embarrassed by things like the XPS 13’s bezels.

Dell XPS 13 9310 a good option for 2026?
Pricey? Compared to a XPS 13? I bought the 2025 model XPS 13 (despite the stupid hidden touchpad and even worse touch bar). Wifi didn't work reliably. Motherboard got replaced. Wifi still didn't work reliably, backplane with antenna got replaced. Wifi still didn't work properly but now the touchpad

Are BIOS Unlocking Services Legit?
On mine (XPS13 9365) that icon indicates it is locked. I just bought an identical laptop which does not have the icon and therefore isn't locked. As for the old laptop: I rang Dell tech support here in Australia. They spoke to me even though it is out is warranty and didn't ask for proof of purchase

Any reason why I shouldnt buy this as a dedicated Linux netbook? Web browsing and occasionally syncing with my Kindle.
