What is a brand that used to be the 'Gold Standard' of quality but is now absolute garbage?

Dell XPS completely went to shit.

Asus Co-CEO: MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC Industry

The problem is that even the higher end laptops tend to be terribly made. I have gone through multiple Dell XPS laptops where the screen attachment hinge has delaminated from the body. Same problem across several generations of relatively high end machine because they cheaped out on the construction

43 hours battery life: Dell XPS 14 2026 lasts almost 3x longer vs MacBook Air 15 M5 in web browsing test

Yeah XPS never again. I have got one in 2017 XPS 15 battery went bust 3 years later with Dell stopped producing the battery so the only replacement was with Chinese cheap knock offs. Buy a nice Thinkpad, that will last, battery takes 30 minutes to change and plenty of spare parts around.

I use a dell xps. This guy is correct. Its ridiculous how reviewers can compare this build to a macbook. It's at the very best a tier lower

The ONLY laptop I’ve ever owned that was/is comparable to my MacBook Pro is the Dell XPS, but even that still felt ‘off’

Linus Tech Tips - I Should Have Invested MORE in Framework April 21, 2026 at 11:00AM

I had a Dell XPS I had to repair a bunch (charge port died repeatedly, keyboard died) and it was miserable buying salvaged or 3rd party parts and disassembling the bloody thing without breaking it. Then a plastic tab connecting the hinge to the chassis snapped and... you could just never close the l

Laptop for college

For the first semester, you don’t really need a computer, usually it’s pretty easy to finish the work in class. Although for the second semester, I would advise you to take a laptop, it’s worth it to work on the go! I did my first year of architectural technology and I can’t count the number of time

That's a W

Don't buy Apple or Dell XPS if it's not up to par for you. There are plenty other upgradable options out there (as I said, I am the current owner of two, and the one I gave away to my brother is also not soldered; bought recently; one was a Dell), both affordable and high-end. Forcing anyone and eve
