I managed to balance my Airpods upside down while bored
Ahh I'm a Dell XPS guy. Nice and quiet.... ....provided you open it up and blow the dust out every six months or so.

Can someone explain why 2k$+ laptop feels like a cheap plastic toy?
i feel you - been there. a high price doesn't guarantee good build quality on windows laptops. look for words like 'cnc aluminum', 'magnesium alloy', or 'vapor chamber' in specs. dell's xps and latitude 9000 series feel way more solid than inspiron or precision. check out dell xps 13 plus or latitud

Dell Premium 14/16 decision
One other thought on the form factor - I have a Precision 5680 as my main machine, and Precision 5570 as a backup (bought on a similar refurbished sale last summer.) The 5680 is something of a chunkier 16" than the XPS 16 (9640) and presumably the Premium 16, and I kind of go back and forth about wh

Dell Premium 14/16 decision
I have been in the it industry for close to 30 years, so I feel I have a good handle on what I need internally... I was looking to get some insights on form factor experience. Given the point of comparison is a 2018 model that's two chassis back (the XPS 9570) even the 16" will feel quite a bit thin

Dell XPs 14 , 9440
Yeah, unfortunately that's a common "issue" with previous versions of Dell XPS... 😬 The 96-series with Ultra CPU's are much better and they have worked a lot to make them quieter now. My XPS 16 9640 hardly ever runs the fans, unless I really hurt it. However, that doesn't help you, so if you run Win

XPS 13 - Batteries any better in newer models?
My XPS 16 9640 with a Ultra 9 CPU goes for 7-8 hours running the screen on 80% brightness doing development work, running WSL2 (Ubuntu) and some Docker containers (Docker running in Ubuntu). Watching movies on full brightness I'd estimate I'd still get 6-7 hours out of it. As an added bonus, the fan

XPS 15 9500 - 5 years old... looking for a replacement.
I swapped my previous XPS 17 9700 i9/64GB, for an XPS 16 9640 with Ultra 9 and 32GB memory... The XPS 17 9700 was a disaster from start and during the first six months, had the motherboard replaced twice, the screen, Bluetooth module and memory sticks replaced once over. I'm sorry to say things didn

Latitude vs. XPS laptop for medical school
I have an XPS 16 9640 Core 9 Ultra/RTX-4070/64GB/2TB/OLED-Touch in Black and it is a wonderful, but dense mother effer. Fast, heavy, 4-6 hours battery. Exceptionally happy with it. The 4070 is definitely thermal/power kneecapped but for me it was the lower cost config as there as a $1,350 discount o
