Working illegally from abroad
Get a travel router and route everything through a VPN. I’d recommend something like the GL.iNet Beryl AX or Beryl 7.

Travelrouter
Ich reise durchgängig und habe einen Cudy TR3000 mit OpenWRT im Einsatz, um damit eine permanente VPN-Verbindung nach Deutschland aufzubauen. Die Stock-Oberfläche von Cudy fand ich relativ schwach, OpenWRT schwächelt aber leider extrem bei der UX. Sämtliche Einstellungen müssen von Hand vorgenommen

Beryl 7 vs slate 7. The best for travel router?
The answer is it depends on your use case. Based on what you wrote that it’s for hotel use / WiFi sharing - that alone would lean more towards the Slate 7 since it has the awesome LCD screen for WiFi QR code sharing and managing basic connectivity without having to login to the web-UI or use the app
