To be honest, when I used to do consultations I never once helped someone with a Slate Plus. It was all Beryl AX or Slate AX. Maybe RTH has, but it’s an old router

Flint 2/3, what is the max usb tethering speed I could expect? Over 500mbit?
I don’t own a Flint router, but my Slate AX has a USB 3 port that should support up to 5Gbps, and my iPhone 15 Pro Max (USB 3.2, 10Gbps) can barely seem to break 100 Mbps when tethered via USB. Generally it’s around 70 Mbps. Using the same USB 3 cable to tether my iPhone to my MacBook yields speeds

VPN / speed / quality
The Mac's CPU is likely vastly better than the Slate AX or any router CPU for that matter. Plus, I'm not sure if you're also using the Repeater on the Slate AX but that will severely decrease throughput as well being wireless. More imporantly, why so much latency? How far away are you from the serve
