Things have changed last decade, mini pcs performances are close to desktop pc, with the bonus mini pcs use a fraction of the energy of a desktop pc. With the way prices are right now, if you don't already have some laptop RAM sticks laying around to drop into a barebones unit, AOOSTAR's MACO 6850H is pretty enticing as a budget option with a solid iGPU. Hmm I have laptop with igpu 680m I think it can pull of some great game or with compromise for AAA game in 800p. You definitely want ryzen. Or here are the cheapest one GMKTEC NUCBOX K12 with ryzen 255h and 780m.My laptop don't have adjusted vram allocation maybe this does.
