Please don't buy the GOruck bags
I've been using goruck for months now. Usually I do 30 pounds but have gone up to 45 here and there. I started with a cheap frame ruck. It was alright. I know how to adjust weight in bags to make them comfortable. My father was army for 22 years and taught me how to. But the rucker 4.0 is virtually

Found a cheap rucking combo on amazon
I’m impressed that you tracked down a combination that fit, especially for a 30 Lbs plate. I consider the GoRuck Rucker pack to be a good deal even as expensive as it is because of how well it is put together, how well the padding works, how well they hold up to the abuse and their willingness to fi

what ruck/weight vest do you use?
If you don’t plan to ever do anything other than the weighted carry for your dog walks, check out the Goruck Ruck Plate carrier. It can carry one short plate, so 20 or 30 lbs. Simple and minimalist. Get the yes4all ruck plate, should be half the cost of the goruck plates. The Rucker 4.0 is worth the

Picking a pack: weight on hips or between shoulder blades? Fit for long torso?
I disagree that rucks like Goruck are just a marketing gimmick. It really depends on what you intend to do rucking. If you plan to follow the fitness rucking guidelines of 30% bodyweight or less in the pack, they will work great, with or without a hip belt. The plates ride high between the shoulders

Beginner Product Advice
Goruck actually has a pretty awesome deal right now for the basic Rucker with 2 free 10lb plates. Ordered one myself but haven’t gotten it yet. https://www.goruck.com/products/basic-rucker-bundle

Long Distance Ruck Options
Make no mistake, I love my Rucker, it’s a pretty incredible fitness implement and I use it a ton. When it comes to long distance (let’s say 12+ miles), relatively heavy rucks (35#+), (1) the lack of a functional hip belt that effectively transfers load to the hips is my biggest issue, and for me, ar

Goruck Rucker 4.0 20L Plates/Belt
Yes. Look at the product dimensions for the Goruck plates vs the same Y4A plate. They’re close enough.

What’s the best backpack you can actually rely on long term?
I have quite a few backpacks at this point and my most rugged is my GoRuck Rucker. Not meant to be an EDC but it could be. I've been wearing it almost daily for the last year and a half with a good 20-30 lbs in it. The GR1 or GR2 would be better for your use imo.

Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault vs 5.11 Rush 24 for rucking — which would you pick?
Smaller ruck packs work better for me than 30l backpacks. Goruck Rucker is great.

Beginner Product Advice
Started rucking 7 weeks ago. Got a GoRuck Basic Rucker. They had a deal for a Basic and a 20 lb plate. Start there, use it for your neighborhood walks. Can hold your water, a jacket, and anything else you might want to carry.
