I'm pretty miffed about Amazon sending my OG Paperwhite to pasture. It has some significant sentimental value, and going down the sideloading path just changes the experience. What's a good non-Amazon e-reader nowadays?

It's a few things: I really, really like page turn buttons. I understand having a touchscreen on these devices, but when the vast majority of your time is going forwards or backwards, in a book, why wouldn't you have buttons for that? So I have an immediate bend against devices that don't have them.
