Dream laptop
ThinkPad P16 if mostly on desk, P1 gen 8 if you need a bit more portability. Desktop if it doesn't need to be a laptop, much more power for your money.

2 SolidWorks users on one RTX 2000 Ada – can a single GPU realistically be shared?
There is no good way to handle this why not buy a cheaper / older gpu. You’re going to lose more time on money, support and licenses to run all of this then actually buying a 2nd machine. I would just buy a ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 (16” Intel) Mobile Workstation something like that

Looking for new laptop (looking for suggestions from oldheads)
I used a lenovo P14 when i was working in industry. Did a great job... my suggestions would be the P series (ThinkPad P16) if you want it as your daily workhorse, I found the T series a bit under-powered. I think the X series are also typically pretty good as well. Would at least get the 14 inch scr

Minimum 16gb ram GAMING LAPTOP: HP VICTUS, LENOVO LOQ, ASUS TUF these are budget to midrange ones High end ones(expensive) HP OMEN, LENOVO LEGION

Incoming Architect student with no knowledge with laptops
Get a ThinkPad P16 Gen 4 AMD. Will cost more but last you 7 years. Much cheaper and better in long run.

Question for Lenovo marketing; any chance a Thinkpad with a good gfx card will be available again in the near future?
At this moment, the Thinkpad with the best gfx card available for my needs is a P1 gen 7 with a nvidia 4060. The Ada cards don't offer the same performance and cost a bit more. This is nonsense. The RTX 4060 is an Ada card, and Ada generation cards do offer better performance than earlier Ampere car

Laptop suggestions??
Get a refurbished ThinkPad P16 with an i7 processor and ARC Graphics card. With P16's and some of the other models you can upgrade the SSD and memory as needed in the future.

Need a rough & tough Windows laptop with strong specs, battery life, USB-C charging, and good thermals
Lenovo ThinkPad P16 gen3. It's expensive, yes and heavy; but it is one of the few laptops which is future proof (3 SSDs, 4 slots for DDR5 RAM, supports 128gb at full 4800 speed and 192gb at 4000 speed). If you are looking for upgradable processor and gpu, then only Framework is available.
