Are t480 really this good?
The advantage of the T480 vs the 14 inch models coming after it is the external battery and the two SODIMM slots. Two SODIMM slots will make a brief re-appearance in the T14 Gen 5 / P14s Gen 5, some T14 Gen 6 has them as well and that's it (but of course the LPCAMM2 slot in the Gen 7 is far superior

T14 G7 - intel 356H vs 355
Exactly. Cooling system of T14 isn't sufficient for full utilization of those powerful H processors if one needs prolongued heavy duties. So I would expect throttling, noise. Either to choose P14s with H processor or T14 with 355 - my t14g5 with 165u still manages lots of prograns at once.

Guide: T14G5/6(AMD+Intel) P14sG5/6 (AMD) 16 inch mod + glass trackpad.
I beg the question; Why wouldn't someone start with a T16 instead? I get price, but the hassle is quite a bit much, especially when certain parts may or may not be available from other vendors, forcing you to go through Lenovo. Also, how does the T14 Gen 5 AMD not work with the numpad, but work at t

Considering a thinkPad T14 Gen 5 for engineering is it a good choice?
Are you telling me that your university has no computer rooms with proper workstations for mechanical engineering software? If yes, go to another university if possible. As others have said, the T14G5 will work fine for smaller stuff, it will lack performance for larger projects that include multi b

ThinkPad T14 (Ultra 5 238V, 32GB soldered) worth it long-term?
Build quality of Lenovo isn't as great as it once wise. I had a T14 gen 5 and it felt cheap and had issues with the touchpad. Opted for the X1carbon with a dedicated fingerprint sensor, much better. Also no errors with the trackpad. But all at added cost. It addition, win 11 is absolutely garbage an

Make elitebook look like a ThinkPad?
I'd love to if ThinkPad didn't drop the ball on repairability and Linux compatibility for the last few generations. It feels wrong to buy a lower performing Intel t14g5 that's slower than the amd variant for the same money simply because of the poor decision to use Qualcomm. The elitebook is unfortu

Are there any good and upgradable laptops?
I like my Panasonic Let's note a lot for its swapable battery and easy upgrade and supper robust chassis, the only problem is the price, I switched to VAIO this year. I also have a T14G5 from my company, can't really do much things compare to the Let's note.

T14 gen5 Ultra 7 155U or Ryzen 7pro 8840U
GPU issues? Multi screen? Could you elaborate? As someone typing this on a P14sG3 AMD I would go Intel if I was getting a T14G5 - the AMD stuff (and Qualcomm WiFi) is still a surprising struggle if you want everything working perfectly.

My first Thinkpad: T14 Gen 5 (Ryzen 7)
I returned mine because of significant lag due to palm rejection issues causing too much of a delay between typing and mouse usage. It felt like a 2-3 second lag where I couldn't move the mouse after keying and etc. On reddit and on a gemini report, it indicates a 200 ms lag it feels longer. you can
