I saw this guy talking about that thinkpad can offer you many upgradable parts in older models are he fr?
Ram is so expensive now, I bought a near new thinkpad but it had soldered ram, price of ram would increase past my budget for the build. That's just a me problem though. I really needed something light and portable to tunnel into my home pc. ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 for 300usd 16gb system ram

the new t14 gen 7 is basicly a framework
The new X1 Carbon is a fantastic step in the right direction too despite some of the understandable compromises. But the fact they made the motherboard, cooler etc so much easier to swap out and made the top case magnetically attached while increasing the cooling capacity is fantastic. They waited s

MacBook of the Linux World
The x1 Carbon is the most MacBook-like I’d say (unless there’s a newer variant that I’m unaware of). ThinkPads are all generally well built, but the x1 Carbon is a little sleeker and feels a little more solid. It also - unfortunately - has soldered RAM which is a negative but is technically more Mac

Highly recommended upgrade: Get a glass trackpad!
Yeah, when I had X280, I installed from X1 Carbon Gen 6, I think around 40 EUR upgrade, but so much better!

My T14 Gen 5 AMD Experience: I bought it, I used it, I sold it
Materials wise I mean it's a stepdown because the T480s and T14 G5 are different tiers. It's like comparing the T480s to the T480 - T--s is always much more premium. It's just a heavier X1C honestly. Thermals wise, I mean the T480s would have been able to sustain around (EDIT: I checked, was around

After seeing the design changes to newer ThinkPads, I have decided to convert over to the dark side. It was nice knowing you ThinkPad fam!
That's why I'm happy with my x1 carbon gen 10. It's lighter than most laptops on the market, has a really good screen, decent port selection, Linux support, good battery life (MacBook battery life is unbeatable though), and more easily repairable than a MacBook. I paid macbook air money for it thoug

Upgraded the screen on my T14 G5 AMD from a 45% NTSC to a 100% sRGB panel. Wow.
I bought my T14 G5 AMD for a great price during the black friday sale, but it came with the lousy 45% NTSC screen. It's not terrible and thought I could live with it, but very quickly found the poor colour gamut an issue for work and aesthetics. So I researched compatible panels and ended up going w

Want the smallest modern thinkpad possible for work
X1 Carbon is exclusive to Intel. If you want to get a Ryzen Laptop, then I think you're looking at either a T14(s) or P14s. They started introducing Ryzen in T14(s) and P14s in their Gen 1 introductions. If you're looking for compatibility with DDR4 memory, I think it's only Gen 1 or 2 T14 and P14s.
