Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been
I have two WoA laptops - SP11 (X1P) and Lenovo T14s (X1E). I also have a Ryzen 7 T14s from work. The difference could not be more night and day. I hate to do anything on my AMD work laptop, it is so frustrating - bleeding battery when it's supposed to be in sleep, constant fan noise even while doing

Need help choosing a ThinkPad (after a really bad Legion experience)
If this is your first ThinkPad, go newer. The T480 is great for tinkering, but the T14 Gen 2 is the better daily driver for most people, faster RAM too. What you do gain is a massive generational leap in performance over any 8-10th gen Intel chip and you’ll feel it in every single task. Just open so

Laptop recommendations for heavy Grasshopper optimization & simulation
for heavy grasshopper work CPU is what matters most. most plugins are still single threaded so clock speed beats core count for a lot of operations. but evolutionary solvers like Galapagos or Wallacei do use multiple cores so you want both 32gb RAM minimum. 64 if you can afford it. urban scale simul

Dell precision 5550
I second the ThinkPad P1. You would want the P1 instead of an X1 extreme. The P1 is a true workstation system with professional grade nvidia graphics that have ISV certifications for the apps you'll be using for your engineering stuff. Not saying Lenovo is perfect but they do tend to fail less than

MacBook of the Linux World
I have a ThinkPad X1 Extreme from 2019 with an OLED screen, and I think the burn-in fear is a bit overstated. Mine does have some faint burn-in from a game I'd often have on for hours at a time, but even on a 6+ year old screen it's not that noticeable (pretty much only on a bright white background)

is the t480 good?
Well. ThinkPad T489is a great machine. For that price range. I mean a standard i5 ìth Gen, with 256 storage and 8 Gb of RAM is worth 100/150 usd. 4 cores/8 threads is plenty enough for what you want to do. But it lacks a Discrete GPU. Black Ops is not a light game. It can probably run the game, but

Framework 13 Feedback
You are having almost exactly the same experience as me, only I was coming from a frustrated Linux experience on a ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen3, which was supposed to be the best Linux experience (Or I used to think that...) Oh boy was I wrong... I cannot be happier with this laptop... I am using Kubunt

X1 Carbon G9 I7 or X1E Gen 2 I7
I think the X1E is a solid choice. More keyboard travel. The CPU is more powerful than the X1C9's, the dGPU is nice if you have use for it and WON'T shorten battery life if you don't use it. It'll accept USB-C charging from chargers offering at least 60/65W up to the (then) USB-C maximum of 100W. No

Atticus or Vellum?
Another poster suggested an M1 Mac for $100. If you can find that sort of price, go for it, but as a bargain hound myself (who spends more time on Facebook Marketplace than Reddit some days), it may be better to expect around $200-300. I did get an imac last year for $100 at a swap meet but it's not
