New Surface Prices No Longer Competitive

I hear you, and I love my old (soon to be retired) Surface Pro, but almost $4K for a 32GB/1TB 368H is absolutely ridiculous. And I felt the same way when Asus recently revealed the price for their hotly anticipated ExpertBook Ultra - $3600 for a 32GB/1TB 358H Panther Lake. I was ready to buy either

It depends. Which model exactly are you looking at? LG Gram Pro 17" 2025 - beyond insulting thermal paste application, 80% of the die was naked; awful thermal design too, plenty of room for bigger heatpipe and heatsink. This is aswful engineering from LG. This laptop could have used much higher power limits.

My wife has the Lenovo X9 with an Core Ultra 7 258V CPU. It's a really well built machine, solid construction (feels like you can sit on it and nothing will break). The 258V is the low voltage version of the 255H, it has slightly lower performance but never throttles nor heats up because it's a 28W

I know this might be one of the most controversial ThinkPad product ever, but...

so you’re basing this off of 5+ year old thinkpads or what? the X1C 13th and 14th gen have already great 1200p IPS screens, and the OLED screens are spectacular You didn’t understand me, or I didn’t explain myself properly. The X1C, even the latest gen, sell shitty screens. What do you think will hi

First few hours with new X9 15p + Initial Linux Compatibility Report

If you are comfortable with, and enjoy using MacOS, and don't plan to game on it, I'd just recommend the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro, you can get away with having a little less memory on Mac, I think 48GB is cheaper than 64GB in the X9 15p. The reason I got it for cheap was a mix of student site, and th

Laptop recommendations

Yes. The 14 inch is definitely a nice machine. A few things to consider though... The 14" with the "touchscreen" is better, since it has a variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The non touch is locked at 60 Hz. A lot of the configurations on the 14 and 15 in aren't available anymore because they are p

2026: ASUS Zenbook S14 Core Ultra 9 Processor vs. HP OmniBook Ultra 14 Core Ultra X9 vs. Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura vs. LG gram 14

Given you have the Slim 7i ultra Aura, also consider the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 14 (same weight, less multimedia, more durable). Given the Zenbook S14, also consider Experbook Ultra (2.2lbs, looks like a brand flagship product). I might also consider the Thinkpad X9 15p gen 1, which gives a 1

New Dell XPS 14 (2026) vs HP Elitebook Ultra 14

I cosign the Asus Expertbook Ultra. Within the Asus brand, the Zenbook S14 2026 is a fine enough computer if the Expertbook isn't available/affordable (2.8lbs vs 2.2) Within your choices, why not custom build the Elitebook Ultra with the X9 388 processor to have the GPU performance? (on the gen 3 pr
