A simple/cheap over the ear headset like Logitech G432's will work fine. Don't even need the bullshit software. Sound output needs to be set to 24 bit, 44100Hz. No surround or other BS. Locating gun shots difficult
But I never had issues spotting shots from any position with my old Logitech G432 but with my supposedly good stereo beyerdynamic DT 990 pro I have to turn my head constantly just to hear if it came from the back or front.

Should I get Logitech G432 for pc gaming
The G432 is a headset. I have one, the built in sound virtualizer is kind of muddy. With the right software, it sounds alright.
