This is Confusing!
I had the Minisforum UM790 Pro and it was a very quick little device. I ran Linux on mine and it was great. I eventually sold it and got a Mac Mini, which has also been great. It's amazing how much computer they can pack into a little box these days. I don't have any personal experience with GMTek b

Do not buy any Minisforum products if you value your time and money there is a big chance you will lose both
I think it is a good idea to buy any Chinese Mini PC from somewhere with an easy return option, like Amazon (shipped by). There is a reason they are so cheap and that is skipping a lot of the QC that named brands have. I’ve been pretty happy with my Minisforum UM790 Pro. I’ve had issues with it, but

high end android TV box or mini pc
OP isn't interested in gaming, so I'd say grab an Onn Google TV 4K Plus from Walmart for $30. You can easily sideload your Kodi and IPTV APKs and go. Me, on the other hand, I went overboard. I have the Minisforum UM790 Pro. At first, I was using MSI Player, the best Android emulator on Windows, in m

UM790 Pro
Go to AMD and install their drivers and management software for CPU/APU: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/previous-drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-7000-series/amd-ryzen-9-7940hs.html Whenever you have the option, always grab OEM drivers instead of Minisforum. You can grab the Mediatek Wi

Buying a Mini PC for the First Time. (Need Help)
Damn that mini PC with 128GB RAM sounds nuts! I had a Minisforum UM790 Pro with 64GB of memory. I ran Kubuntu on it and it was rock solid. Great little device. I eventually sold it and got an M4 Mac Mini, which has also been great, but I do miss my little Linux box sometimes.

is Minisforum small formfactor PCs any good with Linux ?
I have a Minisforum UM790 Pro and it works great with Debian 13 (Trixie) including three monitors and ZFS on root with mirrored M.2 drives. Kernel version 6.12.32. Bought it bare bones and then added: Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 5200MHz CL42 Memory CT2K32G52C42S5 Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB PCIe4 NV

WARNING! DO NOT order a MINISFORUM. Their support is NON-existent
I have the UM790 Pro, have had no issues with it at all so far thankfully. My only gripe is lack of bios updates. The newest BIOS is 1.09 from 11/20/23. Come on Minisforum, the damn AGESA has been upgraded a few times over since then. They put out a lot of products, but then they just leave you hang
