Anyone travel with a carry on?
10 years on the road with my wife, living out of two Osprey Farpoint 40L carry-ons. One each. This year, after a decade of wear and tear, we replaced them, with the exact same backpacks. That probably says everything. Traveling this way teaches you a simple rule: if something new comes in, something

What’s the best travel backpack you’ve actually used and loved?
For flying, like the Osprey Farpoint (or Fairview - which my wife has). Shoulder straps, load lifters, and hip belts make them comfortable to carry across an airport or around town, and they have a zippered cover that keeps the harness bits under wraps when / if you simply want to carry the bags by

Backpack for travel/carr on too
Check out Osprey farpoint/fairview 40L. It’s a travel backpack so it also has a clamshell opening that’s easy to get stuff in/out of like a suitcase. The backpack straps are actually really comfortable so you can walk with your pack fully loaded for longer distances, up stairs, etc. It’s very resili

What’s the one bag you didn’t regret buying after real travel?
Osprey Farpoint 40, EXCEPT THE LAPTOP POCKET DOESN'T GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

Osprey Farpoint Owners - what do YOU use these loops for?
10/9/25 edit - I used this on our two week multi location trip and it worked very well! The clips to hold the 15l daypack on the front worked really well to balance the load on my shoulders and free up my hands to help family with their bags up and down stairs and on and off the train. My son got on

Travel backpack - clamshell opening
If you want light get a Patagonia Black Hole 32. Clamshell bags are better for directly packing folded or rolled clothing. I use packing cubes and pouches that make the opening style insignificant. There are only 8 “objects” in my bag and each nicely zipped up, so can unload and reload even a roll t

I'm looking for a backpack that becomes two backpacks
I love the farpoint! Have had and used the farpoint 55 for 10 years and it’s super versatile. Valuables in the daypack and I can take it on or off depending on the situation, like main bag in cabin overhead storage and day pack with me at the seat. The connecting zipper broke on the daypack but I’m

Backpacking with two backpacks?
I use an osprey farpoint 55 for everything at this point. Should work for what you’re doing. Kind of the Toyota Camry of backpacks, nothing fancy but does 95% of what you need and won’t die

Cycling backpack 30L plus?
You could look at the Deuter Trans Alpine series, I have used a regular size for many years. The regular size is here also 28l, so similar to the Osprey Escapist. There is also a larger (taller) 32l version. But that is aimed at tall riders, so with long back, at least 1.85 m height. Considering tha

Backpack or Suitcase for month China trip
I used a 55L Osprey farpoint which is essentially a 40L + 15L for an entire month of travel. It was great in SEA because a lot of commute was with motorbikes and a suitcase would not be convenient. The backpack is enough for 1.5 weeks of clothes and I would do laundry in hotels. I'd also buy clothes
