It's been an expensive 6 months since leaving Kindle
Growing up in school I hated reading. None of the required reading books ever did anything for me, so I rarely actually read them. But that all changed in 2011 when I got a Kindle Keyboard and found out I could read books that I actually liked. It's been wondering and I've been singing the praises o

My kid asked for color ereader (Boox, Kobo, Pocketbook) ?
As a reader of comics and an ereader collector, a 7” reader is really too small. If you really want to get him a color e-ink device I recommend the Pocketbook InkPad Color 3. It’s 8” and a dedicated ereader so you don’t have to worry about Android apps and distractions. I still think e-ink isn’t qui

Pocketbook vs Kobo & Kindle
I own a Pocketbook Inkpad Color 3 and I love my device. I had in the past Kindle for many years and my wife has a Kobo, so I know other brands very well. Pocketbook devices have good quality and the software works without problems. The best thing is that with the Pocketbook app you can sync your boo

Pocketbook doesn't need KOReader
I tried KOreader on my InkPad Color 3. I removed it after a couple of hours. I thought I was one of those readers that doesn’t find value in the customisation it offers. I didn’t really like the extensive settings menu. For me, the PB native reading app is perfect. After a while I tried it on my sma

is PocketBook UI better than the one Kobo has?
if you get a Kobo, expect to convert all of your books that you want on it to kepub format, otherwise you'll be missing on a bunch of basic Kobo features. Library wise, PocketBook has much better customisation and browsing options than Kobo does. And I personally love the customisation that PocketBo

e-reader for unusual formats
For 'dubious sources' you definitely do NOT want any kind of Kindle! (not to mention all the other issues with Kindle/Amazon of course) Take a look at Pocketbook; they will work well with pretty much any kind of format, don't care where you got it from, and the larger sizes (Inkpad 4, Inkpad Color 3

+1 to pocketbooks, had 3 so far (currently I'm rolling InkPad Color 3) and they're by wide margin best readers I used. Wish they'd still had an SD card slot but oh well.

Pocketbook doesn't need KOReader
I strongly agree. I tried Koreader in my Pocketbook Inkpad Color 3 and I uninstalled it almost instantly. I prefer the simplicity of the vanilla software and it works good enough for me in most books.

Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 or something else?
Maybe... the InkPad Color 3? Or the InkPad Color... 3 😅 Unluckily outside of Android ereaders (which have worse battery performance, but are more versatile) there isn't anything else I know of. You can go down to 7" (Kobo Libra 2 - but for comics applies the bigger, the better) or sacrifice battery
