pocketbook verse (pro) vs clara bw vs other recs?
Verse Lite is just a worse Verse, just forget about it (smaller battery, no buttons, no SD card slot, no warm colour temperature, also not waterproof - as the standard Verse isn't). Portablility: all devices in discussion are 6" devices, there's no difference in portability (Kobo Clara BW is slightl

I'm in love with this thing š
First I had a very small Sony (c 4ā) that I mostly used to read fanfic. It used PRC files. Was a great little system to read everywhere. But prc files became rare and epub/mobi took the lead and the Sony was not so useful. Then I briefly had a Kindle 2 still with keyboard, but I gave it away because

I can't decide which ereader to buy
Look into the Pocketbook. I haven't used their 7" Era, but the 6" Verse Pro is really nice. I just ordered a like-new one from Amazon for $130 US. The Era has side buttons which you said you didn't want, but the Verse Pro doesn't. I like how sturdy and premium it feels. The screen is really crisp, t

Best e-reader?
When it comes to ereaders, āgoodā is somewhat subjective, depending on oneās personal needs / wishes. If you donāt have any existing purchased ebooks already, and if you have no particular needs beyond āreading text-based booksā, Iād probably recommend a Kobo Clara BW or PocketBook Verse / Verse Pro

Looking for a small/light non Amazon-based E-reader
Your options, in brief, are: Android readers - they can use the Kindle app so your Kindle books will be easy to get to. However, Iām not at all sure an Android reader will give you ~12 hours of reading time with the frontlight on, especially if thereās cold weather. Boox Go 7 is great, and has butto

Ereader Recs - Dumb it down for me
You say you want easy, good b/w screen with front & backlight, and ability to sync across devices. You say you don't want complicated work- arounds, and you want easy library access A 6" easy to handle e-reader that's light and has tons of features (if you want them), and very important, a well buil

Help Me Pick a New Ereader!
If your PW is 11 years old, I don't think it can have a 7" screen? The first few gen's of PW had 6". The first PW to have a larger screen was the 2021, and that was 6.8". It is only the newest PW (2024 model) that has a 7" screen. So for the rest of this comment, I'm guessing you actually do have a

What made you choose PocketBook over Kindle?
I switched from a kindle to a Pocketbook. Mostly, it had to do with customization and buttons. I wanted a six inch eReader with buttons. I loved that I could set it to tap on either side of the screen and go forward in my book. I liked that there were a variety of options for getting books onto the

New e-reader recs, best for side loading
Ereaders don't get released every year like phones, so new is very relative. 6'' Kobo Clara BW (or 6'' PocketBook Verse Pro if you are willing to accept a lower contrast), 7'' PocketBook Era, 8'' PocketBook InkPad 4 or 8'' Kobo Sage are I would say your options if you want a non-Android black & whit

What's the best E-reader for reading EPUB format books?
I have been a Kindle Paperwhite guy for over 15 years and decided to escape the Amazon ecosystem. Bought a Pocketbook Verse Pro and could NOT be happier that I did. About halfway through reclaiming my books from Amazon and am beyond glad that I am nearing the end of my captivity.
