Q Acoustics is a British audio speaker design company, a little pricy, but well reviewed. I really like their M20 USB/bluetooth speakers, which are equally adept at being your living room TV speakers as they are at giving your PC some proper hifi audio.

You definitely can't get futureproof powered speakers for 250 new. That said, you can get plenty of great sound for that budget. The Q Acoustics M20 fit in your budget. They are really pretty decent. The have lots of connectivity options, but no AirPlay. I like their look, but not everyone does. If you can get a deal on a used KEF LSX II il or the LSX II LT, they will meet your needs but might be out of budget. Hope this help

HDMI ARC/eARC doesn’t bring any sound improvements over PCM digital over S/PDIF connectors (Toslink or coaxial). Both are simply lossless for stereo speakers.
