Upgraded to an "endgame" set up...and I hate it.

A lowly Rancilio Silvia with a DF64 here. Feel devastated..😩

Ti screen screw

Ah, naturally, coffee only reaches its most nuanced, existential depths when brewed on a Rancilio Silvia with the reassuring presence of a titanium screen screw. Without it, you're not crafting espresso, you're just playing at it. /s

Does the Robot actually make better coffee?

2 years ago, I had a Rancilio Silvia PID mods and I bought the Robot to play the weekend with pressure/flow profiling. Right at the start my shots were better and always drinkable compared to the Silvia. I sold the Silvia fews week after because she was no more attractive. Lever are more forgiving,

Upgrade recommendations from Breville Oracle Touch [$2000]

thats very important what you said. light roasts can be super hard to pull off. Or I just suck. But i could never pull a good shot of tim wendelboe coffee with a rancilio silvia and rancilio rocky grinder. It was just so astringent and bitter and sour (bad sour) at the same time. So i drank medium a

Downgrading to Bambino Plus [£200]

Ya I get it. I used to have a rancilio Silvia. Sold it back when secondary market was p cheap for espresso bc I got an e61 la scala butterfly bc I wanted to get into more steamed drinks. Now every day I regret it bc lol. Used Silvias are a few hundred more used now, and I really only want straight e

Advice for first machine [1000€]

Same question I am looking into. Of the two I'd probably take the Quickmill because manual flow control and water reservoir removable to the side. (Needs to fit my kitchen counter under the cupboards.) For Lelit, why Mara X and not Victoria? Another one I am considering is the Rancilio Silvia plus G

Seems like the shot is coming too fast. This is my 10th one ever, and I got this setup used. Tastes good, but I get 3oz from 13g of ground beans in less than 10 seconds.

13 grams and you get 85 grams out and far too fast. Most people's recipes barr 18 gms and about 36 to 40 grams out. You have too little in the basket to create enough resistance and also possibly not ground the beans fine enough Also presure on rancilio Silvia's are set to about 12 bar and you need

Very pleased with my first setup 🙌 any tips / anything I’m missing?

Thanks so much for your reply. Are there any modifications that make the process easier? I’ve read about people replacing shower screens, replacing the screw with a flush one, reducing pressure, etc. I’m quite surprised any of this is necessary to improve performance on a brand new machine from a co

I want a Cafelat but at this point, it may just be cheaper to get a machine...

FWIW I have a Rancilio Silvia along with my Robot and I haven’t touched the Silvia since I got the Robot. Shots aren’t even close.
