Starbucks CEO defends a $9 coffee by saying that it's not a $10 coffee and "you get a premium experience"

My wife would have Starbucks literally every day, sometimes twice. I bought a rancilio Silvia espresso machine and a baratza sette 30 grinder for $1900 cad a few years ago and I’m quite certain it was paid off in less than a year.

Poor Man’s Dual Boiler

I always wonder why more people don't do that.Even if you'd buy two brand new Rancilio Silvia and use one exclusively for steam and the other one for Espresso it would be still cheaper than a wide range of dual boiler... The only downside is shelf real estate and having to explain this brilliant ide

Rancilio Silvia Deal?

First of all this is a model that has been moded with a pid and it's either a V3 or a V4 one which was last manufactured a lot more than 3 years ago 2016 was the last time they made them. So when they advertise "3 years old" I am not sure what they mean. Take a look here and ask them more about the

Vilken kaffe/espressomaskin är bäst? Någon kaffeälskare som har svaret?

Rancilio Silvia. Klassiker. Grym. Bäst av alla maskiner. Gaggia Classic.

You guys helped me once and now i gratefully and humbly ask for one more advice. [600]

Forget la marzocco are just for coffee shops, at home pointless for 1-3 coffees per day and lack a lot of modern features. Is a gaggia clsssic an upgrade regarding your current entry setup? Absolutely, but they need 9 bar mod to be better. I would invest the money into really good quality beans, try

[No Budget] I need to take it up a notch. ☕️🙂‍↔️

Are you handy? Do you like tinkering? If so then a Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia modded with Gaggimate is the best deal south of $3k you’re likely going to find. Go find a used unit for $2-500, buy the kit for $250 and you’ll have PID with automated pressure profiling. Silvia will have more temp

There goes my backpay...

If you're gonna spend that much money, get a decent machine like the Rancilio Silvia. The thing is totally consumer friendly, you can take it apart, repair it, replace parts, etc. And it's almost totally mechanical, it keeps on going and never breaks down.

Ultimate cheap setup!

I'm also a former barista and had the same setup until really recently. It's a decent combination. I'd recommend upgrading the steam wand to a rancilio Silvia wand. The wand costs about $20 online and takes about an hour to replace. There's videos online detailing how to do it.

Espresso at home has officially peaked

Fair question - no hate from me. Economically speaking, if I bought a latte and an Americano (my daily drinks) every day of the year I'd be spending approximately CAD ~$12.00 per day. Multiply that by 365, the machine paid for itself in less than 18 months. These are hand-built and are, quite litera
