I think so. Though it's not completely the same, they both use Samsung's Dynamic Lug System for band connection. The experience and the amount of force necessary is very similar when I am attaching a band to my GWUltra and when I tried replacing the band on my wife's GW8 just now.

I have the PW3 45mm and the GW8 Classic. Look wise I think the GW8 Classic looks much better even with the slightly smaller display.
