The state of e-ink readers as a technology, and how in some respects, the peak was over a decade ago.
I don't know if I agree with this take. I had the Sony ereader and it was life changing but I wouldn't want to ditch my PW12 for it. I do agree that the front light can cause some issues apropos readability. Just today I had an appointment to put winter tires on and since I vape I sat outside on a b

Should I upgrade from a 15–20 year old Sony eReader to a modern Kindle Basic?
Hey, I started my eReader journey with a Sony PRS-650 in 2011. I loved it very much and used it until it got damaged about 10 years later when I upgraded to a Kindle Paperwhite 7th generation that I got second hand. I recently sold it when its battery got drained within less than a week and upgraded

PRS-505 is way too overhyped for what it is
Most of the PRS-300, 350 & 505 I get are very crisp and clear, as long as you're reading in the daytime. You do get the odd one where it's hopeless. Whether that's a manufacturing issue or it has been left in the sun and damaged the screen it's tough to say. They've all had long lives now! As you sa

Backlight or not for e-readers?
I'm a big fan of frontlights -- my earliest ereaders were a Kobo original and a Sony PRS-350, both without lights. The former had a Vizplex display and the screen was dark and shadowy. Once ereaders started including frontlights, I never looked back. That said, there's something to be said about ere

Why do some people own multiple ereaders?
Hobbies have become less of a thing you enjoy and become more of a competition in proving you're the most consumptive of said hobby to others. I belong in a few hobby circles and it seems all everyone ever talks about is how much they have, not about actually using any of it it. Think about all the

Does anyone else miss Sony Style?
I bought a PRS-300 a year or two ago off ebay for the novelty of it, and I've recently been reading on it a lot more. Mostly for webnovels. - I love the aluminum casing. It feels so solid without a case on it and it doesn't feel like it will slip out of my hands. - I got it for the size and I love i

Time to replace the Kindle Paperwhite
i got a sony PRS-T2 for $7 at an op shop last week, and i love it. super simple and easy to use, has a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32gb, and it's fairly snappy with page turns, plus you can rotate the text to read horizontally if you like. i also like the clicky navigation, home and menu b

My foster puppy destroyed my 10-year-old Sony e-reader… what do I buy now?
I'd suggest pocketbook. Either a verse pro or the era for a larger display option. The system is open and they also have some kindle-like functionality like send books via mail or cloud. It also is very easy to install koreader on it, which is beyond awesome of you're into tweaking your reading soft

Never mind the new hotness, anybody else still e-reading like it's 2007?
Bought my Sony PRS 505 a year ago and love it. Swapped the battery out and use it almost daily. Ended up buying a PRS 600 (didn't like glare so gave it to my son), then a PRS 650 which is great and NOW a PRS 300. They are all built so well and do exactly what I need for a distraction free reading ex
