•Most of the consumer models will start with “K”.•If it has a “T” in the model, it’s a steel thermal carafe. If there is no “T” it is the glass carafe with warming plate.•If there is a “G” in the model, it has auto drip stop (pull out the carafe for a cup before it’s done brewing) If there is no “G”

Thrifted Grail - Moccamaster KBT Before & After

That's great! It looks like you didn't get carafe lids, which I'd recommend: Brew through lid: https://us.moccamaster.com/collections/kbt-coffee-brewer-parts/products/brew-thru-lid-for-thermal-carafe Travel lid: https://us.moccamaster.com/collections/kbt-coffee-brewer-parts/products/travel-lid-therm

KBTS or KGBV Select

Im a big fan of the stainless carafe vs. the glass pot. I didn't want the carafe at first, but Nordstrom sold a handful of KBT's for $195.00 one day a couple of years ago, and I had to do it. Its the best happy accident ive ever made. The benefit of the stainless carafe is twofold for me: you can ta

Interior of thermal carafe shattered 1.5 years in - I clean it normally I think!

Hey, Just popping in to answer with what I know. I've got a similar machine, a KBT Its a silvered glass lined thermal flask. The glass prevents any off flavors from developing compared to a stainless steel vacuum flask. That's good! Glass is a very hard material that does not have any issues with le

For Espresso Drinkers Who Want a Dark, Syrupy Cup from a Moccamaster — This Is How I Do It

I actually enjoy the process. I like being involved with the brew. Convenience isn’t the point for me — pleasure is. I own a Chemex, but pour-over has never once given me the result I’m after. It’s also never hot enough at the end. I love the thermal carafe on my KBT. If I wanted something I could s

Ninja vs Moccamaster

I like the Moccamaster's simplicity and commitment to repairability. And I like that the KBT (and KBTS, which is the model I have) uses a thermal carafe instead of a burner. I bought it to replace a crappy super cheap drip machine. Yes, the coffee is better, even the same basic canister of pre-groun

Alternative Carafe for KBT

UPDATE: The Zojirushi SH-HB15XA Vacuum Carafe, 1.5-Liter, Stainless Steel arrived today from Amazon and it fits the KBT! So this is definitely a nice alternative to the moccamaster carafe if you're looking to avoid the failure mode that the borosilicate glass has.

[MOD] Show off your gear! - Battle-station Central

It's nothing fancy but I picked up a Moccamaster KBT for $125 on marketplace this week and it was nice spending 90 minutes on the patio this morning and having hot coffee the whole time. I've been using nothing but an Areopress for the last decade and the occasional cup of coffee through a phin filt

thermal carafe for KBGV Select 10-Cup?

This might be relevant for anyone who has the Moccamaster KBT-741 (not me, unfortunately). Apparently this nice Zojirushi carafe fits perfectly and has better heat retention than the original: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R15QK29B8X4QD3/

Need Help with the Best Drip Coffee Maker 2026?

Second this. I have a Moccamaster KBT model with the thermal carafe and it still makes excellent coffee after 20 years of service.
