Is it okay to keep it plugged/docked permanently ? (Soft limiting battery charge to 95% / second hand / battery health at 93%)
I’ll add on to this that Steam Deck uses power passthrough that bypasses the battery entirely. This means that you aren’t constantly wearing down the biggest fail point of these devices. If you are someone that charges to 80-100% and then unnecessarily unplugs it, you are essentially reducing the li

Our game got Steam Deck Verified, but that won't be it. What do you expect from Verified games?
I’m so happy to see a developer engage with the community on Reddit. I really enjoyed the first game. My Steam Deck (OLED) wishlist: runs at 45fps consistently; can cope at 12w tdp or lower (though I get that might be asking a lot of a new game); adjustable font size/UI for accessibility; finally, p

Switch 2 Vs Steam Deck OLED WITH Actual Benchmarks
Switch is way more efficient on a watt to watt basis, but the Steam Deck is more powerful in handheld when using its full wattage. Edit: I should add, even though the Switch 2 is about 3x more efficient, the battery in standby is about equivalent because of the 50w battery of the Steam Deck. Additio

Silksong shows a Steam Deck in the controller menu!
For very early impressions, Silksong seems to draw very little power. If you have an OLED you could definitely get away with playing at 90 FPS without a big hit to battery life! The in-game frame limiter only has options for 30, 60 or 120 FPS though, so I just turned it off and set the Steam Deck's

Is Decky bad or something?
It's not bad, it's just that it's outside software, so you have to expect it to sometimes conflict with what Valve updates. I've personally noticed that my Deck sometimes doesn't fully shut down when I tell it to, so I have to hold the power button, and it's more than likely Decky (or a Decky plug-i

My biggest wishlist item: better battery life when sleeping
Steam Deck uses an x86 chip, iPad uses an ARM chip. You get more performance on x86 but it eats through a lot more power. You get more efficiency with ARM but it's not as powerful. A big issue as well is the compatibility of applications between both architectures. But ARM tech has been coming far t

Steam Deck 2 reportedly targeting 2028, delays are possible due to RAM/NAND shortage (KeplerL2)
Yes but Switch games are custom designed for ARM. Valve will always need to make PC games (all x86) work on ARM using a translation layer. A really good x86 machine still makes more sense. The battery life on the Steam Deck OLED is already pretty good for most situations. If they can maintain that w

I am so glad I chose the Steam Deck over the Xbox Rog Ally.
I choose an ROG Ally X because I wanted “a bigger battery”… I ended up getting a Steam Deck OLED as well later because I wanted the track pads. The interesting thing I found is that the deck is just SO optimised that the battery performance is the same as the Ally X is almost every game. Example, my

MGSHDFix 3.1.0 Released - Fixed cutscene camera framing in MGS3, MGS2 FPS Mode & Third Person Camera, tons of fixes
Great work as always. I compared the fix with the PS2 SOL on CRT side by side and immediately noticed the rain speed and stealth effects that have been incorrect for the past 15 years have finally been fixed. Another bonus is that the battery life of the Steam Deck has been GREATLY improved, where i
