I just sold my Scribe - which is a nice piece of hardware - and I'm totally thrilled about it and will explain why. I have a Viwoods and Boox reader, and had a Meebook 7" that was priced below the Kindle Paperwhite and was so much more useful, especially the buttons. Kindles are not e-book readers.

I was going to recommend this. I have the Viwoods AiPaper Mini and I love it! It has a really bright screen with front light. It runs Android so you can put whatever reading app you prefer.

Any Android e-ink tablet will give you an on-screen keyboard like an iPad. I would recommend Boox Go 7 Color 2 or Palma if you prefer phone-like ereader. Viwoods AiPaper Reader Color is a great Palma alternative. no Kindle. Waste of money. Kobo is fine, I prefer Android based such as Boox 7" and viwoods AI paper (10" tablet) and I have both. use the latter more often. both are superb.
