The final day of my P73 as my primary. It gave me 5+ years with zero problems, and is retiring with honors to my living room TV as a media server. Also pictured: 40B0 TB4 dock, SK-8855 7-row USB keyboard, dual 30" 16:10 Dell UltraSyncs

I wanted a modern P series with an AMD CPU and two SSD bays, so I went with the only option available, a P16v G1. Found a refurbished one from the Outlet for only $660 USD with the very nice Ryzen 7 PRO 7840HS. The rest are minimal specs. 1920x1200 100% sRGB, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD. I have stock on h

What's the best SSD Upgrade for the new XB Rog Ally X?

I see a lot of people recommending the 990 Pro for the Xbox Ally X, but before you go get the fastest and most expensive drive, think about power consumption. The stock Samsung MZ-VMA1T00 (PM9A1) already balances solid speed with power efficiency, usually drawing around 4.5W under load. The 990 Pro,

Best 2TB SSD for framework 13

SK Hynix P41 or WD SN7100. Both are great, the SN7100 is significantly more power efficient under load, the P41 is slightly more efficient at idle.

SSD Upgrade - Legion Go 2

There is absolutely no reason to use this in a handheld. It will actually reduce your battery life. The Samsung 990 Pro uses about 6.5w average, where more efficient drives use half of that. You get no speed benefit from using a drive like this. If you got it for free, great, use it. But if you paid

Thinking of getting 4TB SSD - Evo Plus vs SN7100?

I just bought the Evo Plus because the SN7100 wasn’t available (Amazon US). I did a lot of research on both and the performance is essentially exactly the same. The Evo has a slight higher power consumption, but in real world situations it is negligible. Here is the full breakdown of performance. Ac

SSD Recommendations

Stick with low power drives. Some m.2 sip power while others drink it. I can’t tell any difference in speed between my sn7100 and my 990 pro. I don’t know the current market, but last summer the sn7100 was the efficiency king. Idk how much battery/heat it really saved me, but for a handheld it’s def

Lexar 4TB NM790 or Samsung 990 EVO plus or WD_Black 4TB SN7100 for Go 2 SSD upgrade?

I got the sn7100 4tb ans also evo plus 990 in 4tb. Sn7100 is better suited for a handheld use under high loads. Pulls less watts underload runs cooler. 990 plus 4tb has better aspm power draw on idle. Under load it pulls more power and creates more heat. On idle it conserves the battery better. Get

G14 2023 owners! Anyone using a Samsung 990 Pro? Are you getting full PCIe 4.0 speeds?

Tried the 2tb, speeds were fine but the battery life wasn't. I replaced it with sn7100

Anyone tried to upgrade their Thinkpad with Micron 3500 SSD?

My P14s G5 AMD came with a 512GB Micron 3500 but upgraded it with a WD SN7100. It's DRAMless but it's really fast, and very efficient. Very happy with the upgrade. I sold the 3500 and it's installed on a friend's laptop. Very fast drive, too.
