Questions on best speakers for this set up
You wanna match the retro style of the NAD C 3050? If so, Wharfedale Super Denton would fit your budget. https://www.wharfedaleusa.com/collections/bookshelf-speakers/products/super-denton-bookshelf-speakers-pair If you have the space for them, Wharfedale Linton 85th https://www.wharfedaleusa.com/pro

What’s your endgame? Have you gotten there yet? Did you tell yourself you were there and then immediately find something else to obsess over?
The wharfedale Lintons will be my endgame. Currently have the Denton 80th and love them to bits, but I finally have the space for the Lintons and I feel they would be a nice upgrade eventually.

So impressed by the Wharfedale Evo 5.1s
Wharfedale isn't playing around! I've not heard one yet that doesn't stun and please me. Tremendous value! Super Dentons are my end-game speaker for my den. Trying to buy less new records to save up. Doing kinda sorta OK.... lol FYI - while they last, Music Direct has new old stock of the 220's, (5.

I put the horse before the cart. Now I need speakers.
Elac UBR62 can be found around that price. Potentially Wharfedale Dentons (85 or super Denton).

What's the best $500 you can spend?
Wharfedale Denton 80th anniversary addition. $500 on sale now. Exceptional speaker for the money. Warm. Natural. Great sound stage.

Living room speakers advice and recommendations
WiiM amp with Wharfedale Denton 80th bookshelf speakers should fit your budget (and are exactly what I have in my living room). They sound amazing for the size, but if you can swing the extra cost, the Wharfedale Lintons are exponentially better and worth every penny.

Bookshelf Speakers for Close Distance (~5 feet)
I don’t think in feet. Not from USA. Yeah, 1.5m could be on the slightly short distance for them. Sound and price was to your liking. My other, smaller, suggestions are perhaps more neutral sounding products. Though the cheaper Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary could be possible. Though at least th

New system advice
Always spend the biggest percentage of your overall budget on speakers that you can possibly justify without feeling silly: A $500 pair of speakers powered by $120 worth of amplification will sound way better than vice-versa. My recommendation given everything you've said -- but it's just a stab in

Whole system recommendation
We really don't know enough but I'll put a system together at the end anyway so you don't feel scolded. Things we don't know:Budget, budget, budget, volume levels, budget, furnishings, budget, attitude toward the pursuit (one-and-done, or the beginning of a journey?), disposition while music is play

Is KEF LSX II the right one for me?
For about the same price you can get a WiiM amp and Wharfedale Denton 80th speakers, and you’ll have a setup that’s just simply better in every way - connectivity, aesthetics, but most of all sound.
