It’s been said before but use wired original controllers if you can
I modded the dpad on the 8Bitdo controller. It made Dr Mario playable again. https://longplaytech.com/posts/8bitdo-64-controller-diagonal-fix/ The stick isn’t as nice as an OG stick, but it’s pretty good. I can do all the Mario 64 stuff with it fine. It does take some time to adjust to it.

Regret
The A3D really brought home how different the Nintendo Switch Online emulation is from the original console. The 8bitDo controller feels better than the n64 controller ever did, and I’m rediscovering stuff like Mario 64 more or less the way I remember it. The overclock option is nice on kusoge games

Look what came in the mail today!
Fixing to put it through its paces with the BK port in Jiggies of Time. I have the NSO one as well and I like it a lot too. My son is getting into N64 as well so I wanted a second n64 controller to play with him on some titles. edit: getting a lot of common questions, can’t edit my image post and my

Finally bought proper N64 controllers after years of using anything but. Much more comfortable.
The first one is an 8bitdo 64 and the other with the smooth analogue nub is the retro fighter brawler 64. The 8bitdo feels like the better controller overall in terms of overall build quality, compatibility and comfort but I really like the retro fighter aswell, the dpad feels more accurate and the

shell swap and a brawler for the $20 untested marketplace 64🤌
The Boy Scouts of America gave me a brand new Star Fox 64 which famously originally came bundled with the Rumble Pak. It was a real game changer when I got it. The 8bitdo 64 Controller + 2.4 GHz N64 receiver are pretty nice with full rumble support and a touch more ergonomic. Both are great controll

What controllers feel like a switch pro controller?
I can confirm that the 8bitdo Ultimate controllers are very similar to the Switch Pro controller. They're almost the exact same size and shape. I have the Ultimate 2.4G, not the Ultimate 2, so I can't speak to how good the gyro control on the Ultimate 2 is, and I don't know if there are any differen

For those with the Analogue 3d, what’s been your experience with controllers?
The 8bitdo ones that were released for the analogue feels great in the hands, the buttons feel great, and would be perfect for playing games with a few friends like Mario party or Mario Kart, but any game that requires precision on the analogue stick like Goldeneye or Ocarina of time using the sling

Why are the Star and Home buttons non-functional on the 8BitDo 64 2.4G controller but functional on the bluetooth version?
If you are sensitive to lag and don't mind pressing button combos to switch between controller pak and rumble function, or the fact that the controller is paired with its dongle and cannot be used on anything else than an N64 or a clone of it, then get the 2.4GHz version. Personally, I don't think t

New to fpga emulation
I don't think that SNAC is needed at all, unless you are absolutely set on wanting to use original controllers or an original light gun. Modern controllers offer much more responsive controls and better comfort, where as some of the original controllers will end up hurting my hands after an hour of

Looking for a USB controller
The 8BitDo 64 controllers work amazingly well. I got the Analogue 3D and it makes playing N64 games feel like less of a wild adaption coming from modern controllers. I had a N64 when it was first launched and spent many many hours with the OG sticks and the 8BitDo are so much more comfy.
