Opening a new business soon, what type of security cameras would you guys recommend?
It depends on the specific setup I guess. What do you stand to lose? What is your threat? Can you modify the building and run wires? Are you leasing a place for not much longer, or there long term? Lights always on, or need IR? I would use cameras that are wired only, and can be Power over Ethernet

Is Reolink really the best overall for a reliable, non-subscription security system for newbies? After going through past posts in this sub, Reolink seems to be the most recommended. But in reading some negative reviews on Amazon, I want to be sure it really is the best option.
I've installed hundreds of Amcrest cameras and NVRs which have worked really well and are comparable to REOLINK when it comes to quality and price. Worth checking them out.

After some research amcrest /dahua seemed like the best combination of camera quality, price, and support for me. I wanted to have both phone and email support for my security cameras just in case I encountered an issue that I couldnt fix . Ive had the amcrest and dahua security cameras for over 7 y

Uh oh. G6 PTZ motor overheats in sun.
Honestly just took the plunge with unifi protect. They have been out of my price range for a while. G4 pro doorbell faces south. Shaded but no issues for a year now. I have 1 lorex 4k turret camera and an amcrest 4k turret camera in sunlight all day above my garage. Zero issues. Replacing these with

Events are detected, but recordings do not appear in ftp. Camera model IP8M-VB2696EW-AI
Problem was a dumb config issue: ftp server max connections per host default was 2. i guess amcrest cameras make a lot of connections. Amcrest tech support found the problem. I called them on the pbone, a human spoke to me and then they remoted into my windows vm to inspect my setup. Amazing support

Need POE system
Yes all POE, this is the setup I have, if I were to buy again I’d just make sure the cameras have audio because these ones don’t. And that’s why I bought a 5th one separately with audio. But other than that I like them and haven’t had any issues and it’s a fairly easy setup. https://amcrest.com/8ch-

Samsung Video Recorder B74301N Cameras - Work with any other brand?
I switched my old Swann box for a 4K Amcrest DVR and it was a lifesaver. Since your wires are already run, you just unplug them from the old unit and pop them into the new one. Look for an Amcrest or Lorex "5-in-1" or "XV-R" DVR. They are designed to be "universal" for BNC cameras. The Amcrest View
