How the T2 Security Chip Makes MacBook Repairs Impossible: Only Replaceable Parts Are Fans, Hinges, Screws, Housing, and Some Display Glass (Without Sensors). Everything Else—Logic Board, SSD, Touch ID, Battery, Trackpad, Keyboard, Ports, and More—Is Locked to T2. Read the pinned comment for details

Don’t forget the fact that they cut costs with the T2 chip, putting 1gb T2s in <=512GB devices and 2gb full T2s in 1TB and up. That made upgrading ssd storage in these devices impossible, especially low tier models. Considering that the NANDs fail so frequently this is an asshole move as well A lot ...

So I’m not the only one hating macOS 26, right?

After two weeks with all the OS 26 updates across my Apple ecosystem, I gotta say… this is one of the worst updates I’ve ever used, both looks-wise and in actual use. Last week I literally downgraded my iPad, and today I rolled my MacBook back to Sequoia (best decision ever). I’ll stick with iOS 26 ...

Apple's Software Quality Crisis: When Premium Hardware Meets Subpar Software

When I go back to using my 11" 2012 MacBook Air the software: mostly Finder and the settings app. Makes me nostalgic. And it's running Catalina- not that old! It still has more then enough omph to get me through all my basic computing needs. (Also have an M4 Mini) Apple needs to rework its software ...

Can someone explain technically why Apple shared memory is so great that it beats many high end CPU and some low level GPUs in LLM use case?

Unified memory can, and in Apple's case, does mean you can use the same data in CPU and GPU code without having to move the data back and forth. Apple Silicon has a memory bandwidth of 68 GB/s on the M1 chip (non-Pro/Max), the slowest processor package for macOS-operated computers, e.g. the MacBook ...

Chat, is this real? 2025 and only Laptop Apple MacBook decent than windows?

Gak ada yang absolut. Semua tergantung kebutuhan. Perlu ringan? Keduanya ada, tergantung budget. Perlu battery life? MacBook with Apple Silicon, hands down. Perlu build quality? Keduanya ada. Jangan bandingin laptop Windows 5 juta (N100 di OP, are you kidding me?) dengan MacBook Pro 20 juta. Perlu l...

Got my first ever Macbook Air M4. — any Do’s and Don’ts?”

My tips is don't shutdown when not use it, better make it sleep. You only need shutdown when don't use it for a week. Sleep on MacBook is same as standby on smartphone and tab. If you are at home could put it on desk near power outlet and when want to use plugin it, when don't use unplugin and make ...

Why I Turned Off Apple Intelligence — Sad Update

Gotta keep them shareholders happy! I’m honestly kinda glad Apple Intelligence isn’t available on my phone, it’s done nothing of any use for me on my M3 MacBook Air or my M4 Mac mini

What the hell am I reading…

Firstly, that advice is showing its age. This advice would be true 5 years ago regarding a desktop workstation. Apple was still using power hungry intel chips that delivered neither performance nor efficiency. You also weren’t getting a new Mac at that time for under $1000 USD. All that said, Macs h...

2020 Intel MacBook Pro in 2025

I went from a 2017 MacBook Pro to a 2025 MacBook Air M4 a few months ago. The difference is absolutely astounding. No noise, no heat and insane battery life. After macOS 26 Tahoe, you will no longer receive OS updates, either. In my opinion, you will regret buying an Intel MacBook.
