Why is my ASUS RT-AC68U capping 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi speed?

"My ASUS RT-AC68U seems to be limiting the speed on 2.4 GHz — I can’t even get close to 100 Mbps"- Thats about right. Practical speeds on 2.4GHz are about 50ish Mbps using default settings. Want higher speeds? Use 5GHz.

Talk me out of an Archer C7 (AC1750) for an IoT AP

Does sound like an AP issue. The ASUS RT-AC68U has bad 2.4 Ghz support on openwrt. DD-wrt probably has the newest drivers for a broadcom based board.

Bricked ASUS AC-68U, please help
