Kids Smart Watch

Anyone give their kids smart watches when they started school? Thinking this is a way for my kid to alert me if they feel they are having a reaction. She is a shy kid and I could see her not wanting to "disrupt" the class. If you do this, what kind of watch do you recommend?

Has anyone got a kids smart watch recommendation, or an alternative solution to allow them to stay in contact in case they (or we) change plans, without giving them a full blown smart phone? A second hand Nokia 3110 would be fine by me :)
