To be honest: all of this is just demotivating :(

It's not a gaming laptop actually. I made an irresponsibly responsible financial decision to buy a Dell Precision 7560 back in May 2022, and mine comes with an A4000 Mobile. And yes it can play Doom: Eternal and VR titles. It's about as lightweight as an average user laptop and has... shockingly goo

Looking to buy a used precision, REALLY Concerned about longevity.

i've bought several precision refurbs and the 5560 is solid but runs hot under sustained loads. for 4k davinci resolve, that xeon and a2000 will handle it but the fans get loud. your stress test plan is good - run occt for cpu and furmark for gpu for at least 30 mins each. also check the ssd health

Which laptop is good for solidworks

I have a couple. I refuse to pay $5k for new when I can get a 3 yr old for $1.5k. There is almost no performance difference. I also have a couple dell precision 7560’s. They are nice, but have had some issues with cooling.

Given your use case (DaVinci Resolve / After Effects) and a sub-€1000 budget, here’s how I’d look at them: HP 250 G10 (i7-1355U, Iris Xe) I’d rule this one out for your workload. Even with 32 GB RAM, the lack of a dedicated GPU will be a real limita

Framework 16 generates so much heat, it feels like a stove.

I don’t have a framework 16, but an ewasted dell precision 7560. I drilled a 4” hole in the desk where it lives (and doesn’t move from), and installed a 120mm computer fan there. It still gets quite hot but it’s much more manageable. Did the same separately for a m3 MacBook Air (passive cooling syst
