Possible move from Garmin advice
Former forerunner 970 user who now has an ultra 2. Only thing I miss is battery life. I was experiencing a lot of random hr inaccuracies during running which are not an issue with the awu.

Garmin 970 vs amazfit t rex pro 3
T rex 3 pro is better for your purpose if you can stomach its design. It is much faster, has longer battery, bigger display, same GPS and HR accuracy and will be supported by updates longer than 970. Forerunner 970 is good watch but with short battery life, smaller display, has slow CPU which caises
