I run Frigate on a Geekom IT15 U5 225H. Only half as many cameras and it’s barely ticking over. V17 is expected to start using the NPU as I understand.

It could work, but there are better options. Intel CPUs and their "Quick Synch" feature is better for video editing outside of MacOS software. I agree regarding laptop hardware in favor of Macbooks. However, the M4 Mac Mini has lots of good competition if you spec it up to 24 GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That puts the price at $1,000 USD. Beelink SER9, Asus NUC 15 Pro, and Geekom IT15 are all very competitive at the same price point.
