Not made-in-China USBs
It started during the COVID shutdowns when I noticed that 'everything seems to made in China, is there anything that isn't':-) My list of non Chinese made items: Laptop: Gigabyte Aero 16 (Taiwan) Camera: Nikon (Thailand), batteries made in Japan, charger made in Malaysia. Kettle: Ottoni Fabbrica (It

Hp Zbook ultra G1A vs Asus zflow 13.
385 is rather bad. 32GB RAM isn't much LLM. There is TUF 14 and ProArt 13 with 388 and 392 that have full GPU. HP Zbook has crazy price markup. Next week Nvidia is set to announce their N1 and N1 mobile chips - ARM CPU with RTX 5070 sized GPU also with unified RAM. For work you can also pick a more

casual use +ocasional heavy use: ARC B390 vs Strix Halo vs switchable GPU
Price-wise RTX laptops will be much cheaper than Strix Halo, while Panther Lake will be thr king of battery life and termals if thr model is good. B390 is like 50% of RTX 5050 or bit better, while Strix Halo is between 5050 and 5060. From Nvidia laptops there is Gigabyte Aero 16" or Acer 14' Nitro o

Blade 14 3080 in 2026?
I could suggest a Dell, even Alienware(they look alot better these days). They get allot of flack online(mainly Alienware for their price), but parts are very easy to get, Dell's next day support is generally pretty good and they are surprisingly well made. You can see the Parts-people YouTube chann

Aero 15 Fan Control App
AeroCtl is greatness...and supposedly works well for Aero machines because it's built on top of the Aero/Gigabyte low-level code that the Gigabyte Control Center accesses...but for whatever reason it does it much more reliably. I have an Aero 16 XE5 and once the GCC stopped working my problem was fa

Buying help - photo and video editing, photo thetering
If you want power + value instead of paying a premium for “industry standard,” the ASUS ProArt P16 is a very strong choice huge RAM, RTX 5070, and great for heavy RAW + video editing in Photoshop, Capture One, and Resolve for way less than the M3 Max. You’ll still get plenty of headroom for years. O

Linux kernel suuport for GIGABYTE keyboard backlight and fans
I have the Aero 16 and found that the only way to control the backlight was to set it under Windows, and then the state persisted under Linux. Similarly I could set the battery health mode under Windows and it persisted within Linux. It's frustrating. I also find that pressing
