5 Steps Forward Then 10 Steps Backwards On All Of Their Products?
Exactly. I also remember when Chromecast would just work, and now it's a gamble of whether it will or won't, and it usually doesn't work at all now. It won't detect the casting device and won't stop losing the connection when it eventually finds it. And then they introduced the Google TV Streamer wi

Google Nest Wifi alternatives
I'm pretty sure Google is deliberately enshittifying their old products to force you to upgrade. I had a 2 node nest wifi plus 1 node from the 1st gen google wifi and it worked great for many years. Then in the past 2 years the 2nd nest point (the one with the speaker) started really flaking out on

Deco M4 vs X60 vs XE75 Pro vs BE25 in terms of range and reliability
I’m also looking to replace my XE75 Pro. Going to trash them all. Could never get 2.4ghz to work reliably. Performance was overall worse than the google nest wifi I was trying to upgrade from.

What Generation is Your Wi-Fi?
I've been using the Google Nest Wifi Pro for years and after recently changing from an ISP that uses DHCP, to an ISP that uses PPPoE authentication, I was very annoyed to find Google still hadn't fixed a bug whereby the Nest Pro would always underread the speed tests and automatically adjust the QoS

Why would our network usage be so high? Xfinity is throttling our wifi to the point where I can't even watch a YouTube video at 1080p
That would be a really useful feature. Google says you can't without 3rd party support. To view the data usage of Chromecast or Nest devices when they are not connected to a Google Wifi or Nest Wifi network, you'll generally need to utilize features available through your third-party wireless router

Can I cancel my current service and sign up for new one at the same adddress just to get newer free equipment (Nest Pro)?
The nest pros aren’t new at all and currently do not get used. You want to get the wifi6e equipment at least. The google WiFi and nest pros are only used for half-gig and under plans which are on their way out as far as I know

Nest pro slow
Are you with a provider that relies on PPPoE to authenticate to the Internet by any chance? I am, and would find running speed tests in the Google Home app, they would massively under report and eventually, the Nest Wifi Pro would need a reboot. You're lucky to last 5 days. I believe turning off clo

Subnet communication works one direction only
It's not just that you have two subnets, you have two firewalls. So, that behavior is expected, the BGW LAN can only see Google WIfi's WAN interface (the public IP). To reach a client of the Google Wifi subnet from the BGW subnet, you'd need a port forwarding rule in Google Wifi, and then access the

Mesh vs access points in a concrete two-story house — what actually works best in practice?
My current house is a “new” build (built in 2000s) so doesn’t have solid brick walls everywhere. Even so I have found my Google wifi system isn’t great with wireless mesh. My main point connected to the router gets the 350Mbps I pay for. The point directly in the room above gets around 250Mbps. The

Monthly Complaints and Rants MegaThread April 2026
I no longer use the NEST wifi mesh with my Google/NEST home devices like speakers, cameras, displays and doorbell. I am now just using the wifi router that came with my Verizon 5G WiFi, and it's working fine for my house. I('ve been able to connect all the devices that I wasn't able to before. I did
