HP seems to be disabling HEVC Hardware Decode support on their laptops, creating problems.
Funny you mention that. In terms of QC, Dell was always worse than HP whether Flagship model or Economy model. I'd have to RMA batches of Dell laptops for the silliest of things, like the keyboard keys binding up against the chassis right out of the box. RMAs on HPs have been very low. My personal l...
There are too many laptops
Lenovo makes some solid business laptops. I’m sure you can find one with 24 or 32GB ram. HP Envy models like the x360 are pretty solid for the price. The Lenovo will last longer if it’s dropped. Good luck 🍀
is my battery expanded?
That's not where the battery should be, the battery is in the front under the trackpad. HP laptops tend to have the lower lid snap out of their place. Push it in and it should look normal again. Happens often with my Envy X360.
Dell Inspiron 3847: Still worth using in 2025?
I have a much newer laptop (HP Envy x360), I don't need a desktop much
Switching to Linux- Alternate Software?
It's an HP Envy x360, I believe the 2016 model? I'm having issues with keys on the keyboard not responding now- I've already had to buy replacement RAM as one died and the battery only lasts a couple of hours, so I'm saving up to buy something new when this one unfortunately (inevitably) dies. Yes i...
What would happen if you put Tiny Core distro on an over powered system?
My daily driver has 12 GB of RAM, but has a 4 TB plate spinner instead of an SSD. With that much RAM, the speed gain from an SSD will be negligible because you're hardly ever going to actually hit the disk except at boot time and when playing media. Boot up time is quite satisfactory but, even if it...
my friend's Microsoft Surface had a spicy pillow, and she pressed on the screen's expansion. It is bleeding in agony
My mom and dad had an issue with an HP Envy X360 where parts of the screen were brighter than others, have absolutely 0 idea why that happened, but it didn't surprise me the screen had issues, it's an HP
im a freaking keyboard noob and i need hjelp
Looking at the keyboard on the laptop, the tabs are mangled. At this point, it would be less trouble to buy a replacement keyboard panel and install it. iFixIt should have a teardown guide for your laptop, but it's mostly straightforward on most, unless you use a Mac. By the looks of it, you have an...
Laptop under 1000$
Everything I listed is a consumer-level laptop that is relatively reliable unless you're mistreating the laptop in some way. If you want the best durability and reliability, you should look for business laptops such as the Dell Latitude and Lenovo Thinkpad. these will likely be much more expensive f...
Buying HP Envy x360 (Ryzen 7) Need honest reviews on durability & performance
I own a 15.5 HP Envy x360, on my fourth year with her now. For a budget laptop (because that’s what it is, their Snapdragon line is nicer if I remember correctly) with tablet functionality, it’s pretty nice. The 360 hinge is great for keeping the tablet stable however you want to draw on it. I found...
