i feel you on the plastic cracking thing. had three headsets die that exact way before i switched. hyperx cloud ii is actually known for lasting forever - metal yokes and aluminum frame. been using mine for four years now and it still feels solid. cloud iii is newer so not as proven yet. also check

If you want a gaming headset, IMHO, the best option is a HyperX Cloud II. I'm on my second set across over a decade and they are by far my favorite. Super comfortable, decent sound. I like Razer for the Blade (I know...but I like mine), and for keyboards, but don't use them for anything else.
