Gamer chairs have terrible ergonomics and the build quality is often ass. People only think they're good because they've only used something like a wooden kitchen chair or an Ikea Markus. Proper office chairs are far superior.

I think that you misread that. They are saying that the gaming chairs are 2x-3x the price of the Ikea Markus, but the Ikea Markus is better than them.

I woiuld advise against an Ikea desk chair. I've had the 1st and 3rd one. The Markus (1st) is decent, but very one size fits all and I didn't use it for long enough to see how it holds up after a year. Personally I'd recommend the Markus from Ikea. It's about as good a chair you can find without going into the €400+ office chair segment.
