Quick question, do u guys life in your households? Cause my roomba gets caught on everything
Those kind of roombas just bump around by driving into walls and objects while following an algorithm that allows them to cover an entire space.. it can't see anything and doesn't use any kind of slam or v-slam. More modern ones either machine vision (as in an actual camera) to navigate or lidar or

Robot vacuums are expensive and a waste of time.
They don't - not for a while now. Most of the mid to high end ones are able to detect this and avoid it. I have a Roomba J7+ for instance, a few years old and not the newest tech on the block, and that can avoid this kind of problem. Robot lawnmowers however...

CarefulDrive Question
All of the below is speculation. Why it's not available on all front-camera-based models (i.e. j5, j6, j7 too): probably just a matter of feature segmentation, just like how the PrecisionVision obstacles detection is only enabled to detect "pet waste" and wires/cables on the j6 series (it won't avoi

Quick question, do u guys life in your households? Cause my roomba gets caught on everything
The 690 is like the bare bones with very old tech. When iRobot switched to the rubber beater bars that really helped with getting tangled in wires and the cleaning/tracking was much more efficient. The j series brought object detection which means it usually will go around said object. The newest se

Robot vacuums genuinely useful or just a toy you paid too much for?
This thread is populated with people that haven't used a good robot vacuum or a modern one. My Roomba J7+ runs 7 days a week. It almost never gets stuck. I have mostly hard floors (almost zero carpet) and it keeps them stupidly clean. Even my air filter for my AC unit is FAR cleaner than any place I

Wife says it's time, what's the best robot vacuum?
I have had several Roomba vacuums, and currently have a J7+ on main floor and an i4 in the basement. They really aren't great. Our J7 has been replaced by Roomba 2-3 times, which is great from a customer service aspect, but not great because it has needed to be replaced multiple times. In addition t

Are the new Roombas better
I’d say with certainty theyre better due to new tech. Especially LiDar. The 705 specifically is an iRobot machine as opposed to the other models that are single beater bars and seemingly another brands design with the iRobot name slapped on them. That said the S9 will likely never be outperformed wh

J7+ and just bought a braava jet m6
Nevermind. Irobot/roomba must of misread my email. They sent me replacement wheels for my j7+ for free. Not the m6 so it can go over my sliver of carpet. Welp. Time to re-return it again...I cancelled the original return. Darn...

Roomba i7+ stopped working
I had a similar issue with my j7+. I tried, first reset the Roomba then to factory reset the device (removed it from the irobot app) however it wouldn't reconnect correctly. The ring would simply spin around after I restarted the robot. Thought it was stuck in a reboot loop and that I had to get a n
